In the reformed version of the law, which is now no longer time-limited, significant adjustments in the areas of suspension of proceedings and access to evidence point the way towards increased efficiency and the strengthening of the balance between the opportunities afforded to the parties involved in the proceedings (i.e., equality of arms).<\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/info.drrt.com\/blog\/agreement-between-119-institutional-investors-and-the-company-vivendi-se\">Agreement between 119 institutional investors and the company Vivendi SE<\/a><\/h5>\n<p>119 institutional investors accused the French company Vivendi of having disseminated false or misleading information between 2000 and 2002, thereby causing them an important stock market damage.<\/p>\n<p>After 22 years of proceedings against Vivendi before American and French courts, the parties have reached an agreement that will put an end to the proceedings currently pending before the International Chamber of the Paris Court of Appeal.<\/p>\n<p>French law firm Hugo Avocats, assisted jointly by US law firms Grant &amp; Eisenhofer PA, Kessler Topaz, Meltzer Check and DRRT, represented 87 of these 119 investors, based mainly in the United States, Germany, the UK and Sweden. The firms are delighted to have reached an agreement that puts a definitive end to this stock market case which lasted for more than twenty years.<\/p>\n<div class=\"UIHeader__Inner-sc-1mb5dj5-1 kXpSNB private-header__inner\" role=\"banner\">\n<div class=\"private-header__title private-page__title\">\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/info.drrt.com\/blog\/investors-file-half-billion-euro-claim-against-ing-groep-nv\">Investors File Half Billion-Euro Claim Against ING Groep NV<\/a><\/h5>\n<p>On Wednesday, February 7, 2024, over 130 institutional shareholders served ING Groep NV (\u201cING\u201d) and certain former directors of ING with a writ of summons claiming over \u20ac600 million in damages caused by ING\u2019s failure to properly inform the market of material information relating to ING Bank N.V.\u2019s (\u201cING Bank\u201d) alleged corrupt practices and violation of anti-money laundering laws.\u00a0 This lawsuit follows the \u20ac775 million fine ING paid to the Netherlands Public Prosecution Service (<em style=\"font-size: inherit;\">Openbaar Ministerie)<\/em><span style=\"font-size: inherit;\">\u00a0(the \u201cNPPS\u201d) in 2018 for violations of anti-money laundering laws.<\/span><\/p>\n<h5><a href=\"https:\/\/info.drrt.com\/blog\/top-non-north-american-settlements-2022\">Top Non-North American Settlements 2022<\/a><\/h5>\n<p>For years, investors, including asset managers, insurance companies, mutual and pension funds, as well as other financial institutions around the world have relied almost exclusively on the U.S class action system for the recovery of losses from, investor fraud.
